About

Welcome to the Wizards of Electromagnetism blog. We’re Marc Petersen and Colin Warwick, Product Marketing Leads at Agilent EEsof EDA, and the goal of this blog is to help digital engineers like yourselves become the Wizards of Electromagnetism land.

When Dorothy arrives in Oz in the movie “The Wizard of Oz,” she says to her dog, “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas any more.”

Likewise, digital electronic engineers like yourselves are being thrown from your world of ones and zeros into a microwave “Oz” – with its splendid but puzzling reflections, impedances, and electromagnetics — and you’re saying “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in binary any more.”

You’re right.

Hopefully this blog will prove a more reliable guide than the Lion, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow.

Agilent EEsof has three EM simulators:

  1. Method of moments (Momentum G2 Element, which runs under the ADS platform)
  2. Finite element method (Agilent FEM Simulator Element, which runs under the ADS and EMPro platforms)
  3. Finite difference time domain (Agilent FDTD Simulator Element, which runs under the EMPro platform)

If you’d like to become a fan of the ADS page on Facebook, take your pick of the following links. (The new format has several tabs).
