Mentor Graphics has bid to acquire Flomerics after purchasing some 26% of their stock.
Flomerics has simulators for: Electronics Cooling, Engineering Fluid Dynamics, and Building HVAC. What I see is that 1/3rd of Flomerics products have a direct connection to EDA, namely Electronics Cooling.
My son purchased an ultimate gaming system last year and has often run into thermal reliability issues with tandem high-end graphics cards like the EVGA 8800 GTX. Perhaps if the system integrator had performed some simulations with Flomerics, then the gaming system would’ve worked longer.
I just don’t see the EDA product synergy with Engineering Fluid Dynamics and Building HVAC.
Hopefully this will not turn out like the failed Quickturn bid.
